The Arkansas Center for Research in Economics (ACRE) welcomes Dr. David J. Bier, the Director of Immigration Studies at the Cato Institute, to speak on U.S. Immigration policy. Join us on Tuesday, January 27, 2026, at 1:40 p.m. (x-period) in the COB auditorium to learn about initiatives aimed at remaking the U.S. immigration system and what effects this will have on the U.S. economy and security.
Bier is an expert on legal immigration, border security, and interior enforcement. His work has appeared in the New York Times, the Washington Post, USA Today, and many other print and online publications.
The US Supreme Court and multiple federal appeals courts have cited his research and writing. Bier has testified before House and Senate committees on several occasions. From 2013 to 2015, Bier drafted immigration legislation as a senior policy adviser for Rep. Raúl Labrador (R‑ID), then a member and later the chairman of the House Judiciary Committee’s Subcommittee on Immigration and Border Security.
