Griffin Planetarium shows this Friday April 5 at 7pm, Saturday April 6 at 1pm, 3pm, 5pm, and 7pm, and Sunday April 7 at 1pm, 3pm, 5pm, and 7pm: The shows this week includes the full-dome movie “Eclipse: The Sun Revealed”, followed by simulations of the April 8 total solar eclipse. The planetarium is located in the Conway Corporation Center for the Sciences. Seating starts 10 minutes before show time. Admission is free. Seating limited to the first 94. No admission after the shows begin. No food or drink allowed.

“Total Eclipse of the….MEN??” The UCA Opera Theatre will present Edwin Penhorwood’s comic opera Too Many Sopranos this weekend, April 5 & 6! Too Many Sopranos is the story for four divas who have died, but are told that there is only room for one new soprano in the Heavenly choir! Performances begin at 7:30 each night in the Windgate Center for Fine and Performing Arts Concert Hall. Ticket prices are $10 for adults; $7 for seniors 60+ and active military personnel; $5 for K-12 students. UCA faculty, staff, and students get in free with UCA ID. While some of the characters are men, there are indeed…Too Many Sopranos! Come join the fun!

You could be someone’s second chance at life! Athletics has partnered with Earl Young’s Team and DKMS to host a swab drive in the Student Center lobby on April 17th and 18th. Join us in the fight against blood cancer by registering as a potential bone marrow/blood stem cell donor. A simple, 5 minute, cheek swab and registration adds your tissue type to the donor registry.

Faculty are invited to an Open Forum on Education Abroad at 1:40 pm on April 11, 2024 in the College of Business building, Room 100. Staff from the Office of Education Abroad and Center for Global Learning and Engagement will make a brief presentation on our faculty-led and semester exchange programs as well as how faculty can encourage students to participate in a semester away through National Student Exchange. Faculty will also be invited to ask any questions they might have about the opportunities we offer students and the proposal process. Please consider submitting questions in advance using this form.

In honor of the upcoming National Student Employment Week (Apr. 7-13), the Career Services Center is looking to highlight one student worker who has gone above and beyond this academic year. The Student Worker of the Year will receive a $100 award and plaque, and their departmental office will be given a trophy to display in the office for a year. Both the student worker and their department will receive campus-wide recognition.
