UCA Wind Ensemble Concert, Song of Democracy

Join the UCA Wind Ensemble in concert on Wednesday, March 19th at 7:30 PM in the beautiful Windgate Center for the Fine and Performing Arts. Our performance features the UCA Tapestry Treble and Natural Statesmen in a multimedia spectacle on an epic work by Howard Hanson, Song of Democracy. It’s thrilling anthems will resonate with all Americans regardless of political affiliation. Also featured on this concert are Robert Kurka’s Good Soldier Schweik Suite, and Reynaldo Hahn’s La Bal de Beatrice d’Este.
Tickets are free for students and faculty.

Deadline Extended: Teaching Excellence Institute

The application deadline for the fifth annual Summer Teaching Excellence Institute has been extended to Monday, April 14, 2025.
The institute will be held June 9-10 and 12-13, 2025, from 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM daily on campus, with pre-work conducted asynchronously via Blackboard.

Participants will:

> Gain valuable insights into UCA’s student population
> Explore the science of learning and memory
> Develop strategies for supporting executive function skills

Benefits include:

> $250 stipend for participation
> Enhanced teaching effectiveness
> Collaboration with peers across disciplines
> Daily lunch provided

March 13: Keystone Conversation with Dr. Christine Case

Join us on Windgate’s Keystone Steps this Thursday during x-period for a conversation with Dr. Christine Case, Visiting Assistant Professor of English.

How can a fairy tale about a comatose, largely silent, and stereotypically pretty princess signify queer promise? What can queer mean in this context? Dr. Case’s conversation utilizes Perrault’s 1696 short story, Disney’s 1959 animated film, and Disney’s 2014 live-action “Maleficent” as entrance points to key concepts in queer theory and girlhood studies.

Keystone Conversations seek to stimulate, foster, and promote campus interest in the Arts, Communication, Humanities, and Social Sciences fields. We invite you to join our live events at 1:40-2:30 pm at the Keystone Steps in the Windgate Center for Fine and Performing Arts.
