In the recruitment, retention, and ultimately the graduation of a student from the University of Central Arkansas, countless faculty, staff, and student leaders play an extensive and important role. The staff and student leaders within the Division of Enrollment Services & Student Success are critical in upholding UCA’s commitment to help guide students through the recruitment process to fulfill their dreams in a high-quality and highly engaging educational experience.
The Division of Enrollment Services & Student Success has over 100 staff members and has the following offices: Academic Advising, Admissions, BEAR Life, Financial Aid, Online, Transfer, and Returning Student Services, the Registrar’s Office, Strategic Enrollment Communication, Athletic Academic Resource Center, Student Success Services, UCA Commitment, and the Veterans and Military Resource Center. Within many of these offices, the division is also home to over 150 student staff employees and volunteers who truly are the heart and soul of our campus tours, our supplemental education support, and ambassadors of telling the UCA story to current and future Bears!
Collectively, Enrollment Services & Student Success is not any one office, event, or opportunity. Our successes as a division are the successes of UCA as a whole. We are a division that has been strategically organized in our purpose, drive, and outcomes. And in that strategy, the efforts of Enrollment Services & Student Success are collaborative. The phrase “it takes a village” applies aptly when discussing the journey of a UCA student. The division is proud to be a critical stakeholder in that journey but just as proud to be a part of the UCA campus community that enhances and thrives in aiding a student from their first step onto campus through their walk across the stage of the Farris Center to earn their diploma.
In working with students and families over the past 20 years, I know that the journey to college is a deeply personal one. I know that each dream has its roadblocks and obstacles, but then, simultaneously, there is the potential accomplishment of that dream. As a division, our commitment to UCA and then, in turn, to future and current students is to provide dedication and care to their success. These efforts allow for a genuine connection and difference to be made for the UCA community, our students, and their families.
As the Vice President for Enrollment Services & Student Success, if there are avenues of support we can provide, please do not hesitate to reach out to me or any of the passionate and dedicated professionals within UCA. Go Bears!
Kevin P. Thomas, Ed.D.
