The University of Central Arkansas hosted a series of Senior Socials in Northwest Arkansas on April 21 and 22, as part of the NWA Blitz, welcoming admitted students and their families to celebrate the start of their college journey.
Held in vibrant local venues like the 6th Floor Lounge at Ledger in Bentonville and the Botanical Garden of the Ozarks in Fayetteville, these gatherings offered students the chance to meet future classmates, engage with UCA faculty and staff, and learn more about life at UCA. A highlight of the event included a drawing for a $1,000 book scholarship, adding excitement to the evening.
Ashley Berry, Director of Admissions, delivered the welcome message at each event and emphasized the value of building early connections. “It was incredible to see the energy and excitement at our Senior Socials in Northwest Arkansas,” Berry said. “Students were able to start seeing themselves as part of the UCA community. It’s the kind of connection that sets the tone for a successful and supported college experience.”
UCA President Houston Davis also delivered remarks at the events, warmly welcoming future Bears and their families into the university community. He emphasized the importance of building a strong support system and the university’s commitment to helping students succeed from day one. In his message, Davis celebrated the excellence that defines the UCA experience — from academics to campus life — and encouraged students to fully embrace the opportunities ahead.
Beyond the awarding of the $1,000 scholarship, Vice President for Advancement, Mary Lackie, also announced scholarship opportunities available through the UCA Foundation, reinforcing the university’s investment in the success and potential of every incoming student.
Students and their support networks had the opportunity to engage with the Deans of each of our five academic colleges, along with key leaders from areas such as the Schedler Honors College, the Graduate School, Athletics, the Alumni Association, and more. These meaningful interactions play a vital role in fostering connections with our future Bears and reaffirming our commitment to supporting them at every stage of their academic and personal journeys.
The NWA Blitz Senior Socials were a key part of UCA’s outreach to students across Arkansas, especially those transitioning from high school to college. By creating personalized, local experiences, the university continues to show its commitment to student success before they even set foot on campus.
