The University of Central Arkansas rolled out the purple carpet for incoming transfer and readmitted students during Transfer Priority Week, held April 2–4. The high-demand event was designed to ease students’ transition to UCA and set them up for long-term academic success.
Hosted by the Office of Online, Transfer, and Returning Student Services, the week offered dedicated time for students to connect with transfer advisors, explore academic programs, and receive personalized guidance on resources, scholarships, and credit evaluation. The event reflects UCA’s commitment to making the transfer experience seamless, supportive, and student-centered.
“Transfer and readmit students bring a wealth of experience and diversity to our campus,” said Brian Corbin, Director of Transfer Services. “Transfer Priority Week is our way of honoring what they’ve already achieved and helping them hit the ground running at UCA.”
Throughout the week, students participated in an in-depth information session, toured campus, and met with staff from across student services. One of the biggest highlights was building customized class schedules with their transfer advisor, giving students a clear, confident start for the summer and fall semesters.
The week also spotlighted UCA’s collaborative credit optimization process, a joint effort between the Registrar’s Office and Transfer Services to help students make the most of previously earned coursework. Lower-division credits are evaluated and adjusted by the Registrar’s Office, while Transfer Services supports students through major-specific course substitutions and upper-division planning.
“Helping transfer students navigate this transition is one of the most rewarding parts of our work,” said Emily Hall, Associate Director of Transfer Services. “They bring new perspectives and fresh goals—and we’re proud to help them launch their next chapter at UCA.”
