Brian Corbin serves as the Director of Online, Transfer & Returning Student Services (OTRSS) at the University of Central Arkansas (UCA), where he leads efforts to support transfer, online, and returning students in making a smooth transition to the university. He holds an Associate of Science degree from Alfred State College (1990), a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology from Brockport State University (1992), and both a Master of Science degree in Education with a concentration in School Counseling (1996) and a Certificate of Advanced Study in School Counseling (1999) from Niagara University.

Before joining UCA, Brian worked as a school counselor in Williamsville, New York. Since arriving at UCA in 2000, he has held several leadership roles, including Assistant Director of Admissions, Director of Testing, and, for the past decade, Director of OTRSS. His 24-year career at UCA has been marked by his dedication to guiding students through their academic journey with clarity and confidence.

One of Brian’s most notable accomplishments is the development of Arkansas’s first and most comprehensive 2+2 Transfer Agreement program, an initiative close to his heart, as he is a former transfer student himself. These agreements provide a clear and streamlined path for students transitioning from two-year colleges to UCA, enabling them to maximize the value of their earned credits and reduce the time to degree completion.

Brian’s work is grounded in a deep respect for the investment students make in their education. Under his leadership, UCA has implemented a thorough three-stage review process for transfer credits, developed in collaboration with the Registrar’s Office. This process—evaluating direct course equivalencies, core substitutions, and major/minor adjustments—ensures that students receive the maximum benefit from their prior academic work before even meeting with an academic advisor.

Having experienced nearly every facet of the higher education journey himself, concurrent enrollment, community college, public universities, and graduate study at a private institution, Brian is uniquely positioned to understand the diverse paths students take. His empathy and firsthand experience fuel his passion for making UCA’s transfer and returning student services both welcoming and impactful.

Outside of work, Brian enjoys spending time with his family, especially cheering on his two sons in their high school sports and creating highlight videos of their seasons. He’s also an avid reader and loves camping, hiking, and traveling with his wife and boys whenever possible.

Brian believes in the power of collaboration across UCA’s Enrollment Services & Student Success division and is excited about the growing use of Slate to enhance student support. He looks forward to continued partnerships that strengthen the student experience and lead to even better outcomes for the students they serve.

His advice to students? “Embrace the opportunity this phase of your journey offers, engage with your campus community, and access the services designed to help you succeed. Take a moment to reflect on your path, and welcome. We’re glad you’re a Bear. Go Bears!”
