Welcome to the Department of Elementary, Literacy, and Special Education:

The Department of Elementary, Literacy, and Special Education is located in Mashburn Hall. The department is comprised of faculty members who teach, supervise, and advise undergraduate and graduate candidates pursuing degrees in education. The faculty devotes time building knowledge, enhancing skills, and fostering attitudes that prepare UCA candidates to demonstrate teaching excellence and reflective decision-making. The faculty members collaborate with school partners for the purpose of integrating theory and practice through hands-on experiences early in the program of study. As a result of these experiences, the candidates graduate with an excellent record of achievement. This is due to the quality of faculty, the university-school partnerships, and the quality candidates attracted to the teacher education program.
