Nonprofit Summit

UCA’s Center for Community and Economic Development in partnership with UCA Service Learning, the Cabot Chamber of Commerce, the Arkansas Public Administration Consortium, The Yarn, and the Clinton School of Public Service will host a Nonprofit Summit in Cabot on April 29. The Nonprofit Summit is a free, one day event that includes a Training Session in the morning and a Poverty Simulation in the afternoon.

The Training Session will include presentations from Marie Lindquist of the Arkansas Public Administration Consortium and Hillary Trudell of Clinton School of Public Service and The Yarn Storytelling. Marie will share a presentation about “Volunteer Management” and Hillary will share “Storytelling for Your Nonprofit.” Lunch will be provided for those that attend the morning session. A Poverty Simulation will be hosted in the afternoon. The University of Central Arkansas Division of Outreach and Community Engagement (Center for Community and Economic Development and Service Learning Program) will facilitate the Poverty Simulation. The Community Action Poverty Simulation (CAPS)—an interactive, immersion experience— is owned by the Missouri Community Action Network. The simulation provides a glimpse into the structural barriers of poverty to transform participants’ perspectives about their own communities. These transformed perspectives inspire action toward positive community change. If you are interested in learning more about the Community Action Poverty Simulation or purchasing a CAPS kit license, please visit communityaction.org or povertysimulation.net.
