The University of Central Arkansas is the only university in the State of Arkansas to offer a Bachelor of Science Degree in Addiction Studies!
If you are looking for an exciting career with growing opportunities and want to be at the forefront in helping to resolve one of our country’s greatest social problems, explore a career in addiction counseling or addiction prevention. This program is accredited by National Association of Substance Abuse Counselors. It specifically designed to provide education, technology and clinical training needed to prepare students wanting to work in an addiction health care setting. Providers of addiction counseling and addiction prevention in the State of Arkansas and throughout the nation have expressed a need for certified addiction counselors and certified addiction professionals to work in the treatment and prevention of substance abuse. Students that complete the Bachelor of Science Degree in Addiction Studies will be prepared to work in settings such as hospitals, outpatient clinics, employee assistance programs, schools, the criminal justice system, governmental agencies and drug courts. They are also eligible for the Alcohol and Drug Counselor certification which is offered by the Arkansas Substance Abuse Certification Board.
