Youth Theatre registering for summer program

The Youth Theatre of Central Arkansas is accepting registration for its upcoming summer program. The Youth Theatre offers unique, creative, theatrical experiences for students in grades 3 through 12 and is sponsored by UCA Theatre. Dates for the program are June 2 through June 30. The program is divided into two age groups. The junior program includes students in grades 3-6 with the senior program for students in grades 7-12. Each group will immediately begin rehearsals on a play to be presented June 29 and 30 at 7 p.m. in the Snow Fine Arts Center.

Because both groups will immediately audition and begin rehearsals, only those students who can attend all rehearsals are encouraged to register. Junior program participants will meet Monday through Thursday from 10 a.m. to Noon with the senior group meeting Monday through Friday from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. A mandatory orientation meeting of both groups will be held June 2 at 4 p.m. in the Snow Fine Arts Center. At least one parent is required to attend this orientation meeting.

Ruthann Curry Browne, director of the Youth Theatre of Central Arkansas, will be directing the summer program. She holds a master?s degree in performance from the Lamont School of Music at the University of Denver. She has directed numerous plays, taught middle school drama and led workshops in acting and auditioning.

Registration is $175 per student with discounts for early registration. Early registration deadline is May 30, however, students will be accepted through June 2. Partial scholarships are also available.
