The world-renowned clarinetist James Campbell, professor of music at Indiana University, will visit the University of Central Arkansas, April 5 and 6.
Campbell has followed his muse to five television specials, more than 40 recordings, over 30 works commissioned, a Juno Award, a Roy Thomson Hall Award, the 1989 Canada’s Artist of the Year, and in 1997, he received Canada’s highest honor: the Order of Canada.
At 2 p.m. on Wednesday, Campbell will give a clarinet master class. Performers include three UCA students: Kristen Huge, Kaci Stirling, and Kalynn Mullican.
During X-period on Thursday, Campbell will perform a guest recital, assisted by UCA faculty Min-Ho Yeh, and pianist Norman Boehm from Hendrix College. Program includes Saint-Saens Clarinet Sonata, Mendelssohn Concertpiece No. 2 for two clarinets, and Krommer Concerto for two clarinets.
