CONWAY― The University of Central Arkansas University and Symphonic Bands will present a “Special Effect” concert Tuesday, April 15, in the Donald W. Performance Hall as part of the Centennial Celebration of Bands.

Each will present various types of music and visual special effects in their performances, set to begin at 7:30 p.m. The concert is free and open to the public. No tickets are required.

Brantley Douglas, associate director of bands and director of athletic bands, said the public would enjoy coming to see this show.

“This is a unique concert involving many types of special effects,” he said.

Douglas will direct the Symphonic Band, which will perform “University Band,”

“Fanfare for the Common Man,” “Paper Cut,” “Old Churches,” “On The Mall,” “Voodoo” and “Foundry.”

The University Band will be under the direction of graduate conducting students Les Sellers and Mary Poppelreiter.  Undergraduate Ethan Shaw, a senior music major, will direct a march in the concert. That program includes “Symphonic Band,” “Third Suite,” “Psalm 46,” “Ghost Train,” “Shenandoah” and “Vesuvius.”
