University of Central Arkansas joins Northwest Arkansas Council

Membership underscores UCA’s expanding presence, strategic commitment to serving the state

The University of Central Arkansas announced Wednesday that it is now an official member of the Northwest Arkansas Council, a leading regional organization that brings together business, education and civic leaders to advance economic opportunity, workforce development and quality of life in Northwest Arkansas.

“This is a meaningful step for the university’s visibility and influence in Northwest Arkansas,” UCA President Houston Davis said. “The Council is where the region’s key decisions and collaborations take shape, and having UCA at that table strengthens our ability to serve the entire state.

“It’s a strategic milestone for our university and a testament to the growing impact of our partnerships in Northwest Arkansas.”

Founded by Sam Walton, Don Tyson, J.B. Hunt and other visionary business leaders, the Northwest Arkansas Council has played a pivotal role in shaping the region’s growth for more than 35 years. The nonprofit organization’s more than 100 members include many of the region’s leading employers, such as Walmart, Tyson Foods, J.B. Hunt Transport Services, Simmons Foods and George’s, Inc.

The Council has been instrumental in advocating for infrastructure and economic development initiatives such as the Northwest Arkansas National Airport (XNA), the Interstate 49 corridor and key regional water projects. Today, the organization continues to advance long-term strategies focused on housing, infrastructure and sustainable growth.

UCA’s membership aligns with its ongoing efforts to expand educational and economic partnerships throughout the state, particularly in Northwest Arkansas, where the university continues to strengthen ties with businesses, schools and community organizations.

“UCA’s involvement with the Northwest Arkansas Council opens new avenues for collaboration and innovation,” UCA Sr. Director of Northwest Arkansas Engagement Paul Gatling said. “We look forward to working alongside regional leaders to create opportunities that benefit both Northwest Arkansas and the entire state of Arkansas.”
