CONWAY — The University of Central Arkansas University Chorus will present its fall concert Tuesday, Nov. 19 at 7:30 p.m. in the Snow Fine Arts Center.
The concert is free and open to the public.
The choir, under the direction of Dr. Sheri Cook-Cunningham, visiting assistant professor of music education, will perform pieces from the Renaissance as well as by contemporary composers. The choir will also perform two Chinese folk songs arranged by Chen Li.
“Fortunately, we have six singers for whom Chinese is their first language, so they have helped us learn the Chinese,” Cook-Cunningham said.
The choir will divide by gender for part of the performance . The women will sing “Heart We Will Forget Him” by James Mulholland, and the men will sing “Tell My Father,” arranged by Andrea Ramsey.
The performance will end with “Jabberwocky” by Sam Pottle. The song is based on the writings of Lewis Carroll in Through the Looking Glass. The song “Jabberwocky” contains many nonsense words and always seems to be a crowd pleaser.
“I hope the audience will enjoy the variety of music presented and will appreciate the talents of the students on stage,” Cook-Cunningham said.
The University Chorus is a non-auditioned ensemble composed of students from various majors around campus. Interested students may sign up for it as a class.
