CONWAY — The University of Central Arkansas University Chorus will be in concert Thursday, April 26, at 7:30 p.m. in the Snow Fine Arts Recital Hall.

The concert, free and open to the public, will include a men’s chorus, women’s chorus and conclude with a combined choir selection.

“This semester we have separated into a women’s chorus and a men’s chorus so that our students can explore some of the important music literature composed for those specific ensemble types,” said Dr. Ryan Fisher, director of the University Chorus.

The University Chorus is a non-auditioned ensemble composed of students from various majors. Until recently, the University Chorus was always a group of both male and female singers. This concert marks the first time that the chorus will be segmented into a women’s chorus and men’s chorus to enhance the concert overall.

The program for the Women’s Chorus includes “Gloria” from Mass No. 6 by Orban; “Aure Volanti” by Caccini; “My True Love Hath My Heart” by Rutter; “Torna a Surriento” arranged by Shields; and “Ain’t No Grave Can Hold My Body Down”, arranged by Caldwell and Ivory.

The program for the Men’s Chorus includes “Jonah’s Song” by Schickele; “The Last Words of David” by Thompson; “Beati Mortui” by Mendelssohn; “Canst Thou Love Me, Lady?” by Ramsey  and “Marry a Woman Uglier Than You”, arranged by Wilson.

The combined chorus will conclude the program with “My Soul’s Been Anchored in the Lord”, arranged by Hogan.
