The University of Central Arkansas University Chorus will perform its spring concert on Thursday, April 19, at 7:30 p.m. in the Snow Fine Arts Center Recital Hall.
The concert, free and open to the public, will feature four student conductors — Maya Jackson (assistant conductor), Sydney Hickok, Celina Reed and Leslie Vaught — and will include a wide variety of repertoire, including “Gloria” by Vivaldi;” Homeland”, arranged by Z. Randall Stroope; “1941” by Andrea Ramsey and “Let’s Begin Again” by John Rutter.
It will be the final concert under the direction of Dr. Sheri Cook-Cunningham, who is leaving UCA to return to Kansas City to pursue the foundation of a community youth choir for underserved students.
“I have greatly enjoyed my time here at UCA and the many connections I have made with students and faculty,” she said. “I am proud of the accomplishments of this non-auditioned choir. My goal has been to combine the choir’s diverse talents while providing a supportive and engaging music-making environment.
“I think the enjoyment these students feel in singing together will be apparent to audience members.”
Concert-goers are invited to a reception following the program.
