UCA’S SIXTH ANNUAL DAY OF GIVING SET FOR MARCH 5

The University of Central Arkansas’s sixth Day of Giving is set for Thursday, March 5.

The annual 24-hour fundraising drive challenges alumni, parents, faculty, staff, students and friends to make a gift of any amount to support the campus.

Continuing to outpace itself, the annual Day of Giving drive has raised more than $1.3 million for students and programs since its inception in 2015.

“Our record-breaking successes with Day of Giving reflect the engagement and dedication of our donors,” said UCA President Houston Davis. “They recognize the tremendous impact that our graduates and programs are having across the state and beyond.”

The spirited 24-hour fundraising event provides a unique opportunity to rally the university community and connect donors with specific programs and giving opportunities at UCA. Last year more than 35 on- and off-campus ambassadors combined their social media efforts to help secure a record 1,386 donors.

“Our Day of Giving theme, Take Your Pick, refers to the numerous funds available for donors to consider when giving online at uca.edu/dayofgiving,” said Haley Fowler, director of Annual Giving. “With so many student, campus and community impact funds to pick from, our donors are able to identify and support those areas that they are most passionate about.”

Student impact fund donations provide students with scholarships and student support services such as the Bear Essentials Food Pantry.

Campus impact funds support faculty and student research projects, as well as service-learning opportunities and state-of-the-art equipment.

Community impact funds offer experiential opportunities, as well as guest lecturers, first-class exhibits and performances on campus that are available to the larger communities of Conway, Faulkner County and central Arkansas. This includes Reynolds Performance Hall events, Outreach and Community Engagement programs, Arkansas Shakespeare Theatre and the Conductor, for example.

Many departments have identified giving partners that will match individual gifts dollar for dollar, thus doubling the impact of certain donations.

Donors may give online at uca.edu/dayofgiving or in person at Buffalo Alumni Hall on the UCA campus.

The Student Government Association will host a Day of Giving party at the UCA Student Center where they will collect donations and celebrate Day of Giving and the impact it has on fellow students.

A post-Day of Giving celebration will be held from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Friday, March 6, at the UCA Student Center Courtyard and Amphitheater. The celebration will include an announcement of the total funds raised, along with a cookout for campus partners and donors. A short program will begin at 11:30 a.m. In case of rain, the event will be held in the Student Center lobby.

Hot dogs, hamburgers and barbecue pork will be served to the first 250 participants. Centennial Bank will provide food, and UCA Athletics will provide grilling services.
