The University of Central Arkansas Public Appearances will present “TINA – The Tina Turner Musical” Thursday, Oct. 16, at 7 p.m. at Reynolds Performance Hall.

The smash hit “TINA – The Tina Turner Musical” was written by Tony Award nominee and Pulitzer Prize winner Katori Hall with Frank Ketelaar and Kees Prins. The new tour is produced by Crossroads Live North America.

The musical reveals a comeback story like no other, of a woman who dared to defy the bounds of racism, sexism and ageism to become the global Queen of Rock n’ Roll. “TINA – The Tina Turner Musical” is a celebration of resilience and an inspiration of triumph over diversity.

One of the world’s best-selling artists of all time, Turner won 12 Grammy Awards, and her live shows have been seen by millions, with more concert tickets sold than any other solo performer in music history. Turner’s contribution as an iconic music artist and performer, her influence on fellow artists and her inspiration to generations who followed, is legendary. Through her life story and her music, Turner inspired and taught so many people around the world to find strength from within.

Tina Turner was a 2021 Rock & Roll Hall of Fame nominee. She was inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 1991 as a duo alongside Ike Turner, but has never been inducted in recognition of her solo work.

The cast is led by Darilyn Burtley (Tina Turner). Burtley is a Chicago-born actor and vocalist whose career spans theatre, television and concert stages including Lyric Opera of Chicago and the hit television series “Chicago P.D.” and “The Chi.” She is joined on tour by Monty Kane (Ike Turner/Ronnie Turner), K. Bernice (Zelma Bullock), India Shelbi Boone (Tina Turner at some performances), Eva Ruwe (Gran Georgeanna) and Eleni Kutay (Rhonda Graam, Toni Basil).

UCA Public Appearances has continued to grow each year and now offers five unique series: Broadway, POPS, Night Out, An Evening With, and the Windgate Collection. Reynolds Performance Hall has also welcomed over 70,000 pre-K-12th grade students from across the state of Arkansas to experience live performing arts through the Main Stage Education Series. This series educates while entertaining and provides arts accessibility to all students.
