UCA to host "Save the Music Days" at UCA

In partnership with “Play It Again Arkansas,” and a fine arts grant, the UCA Bands announce “Save the Music Days,” Tuesday, April 19 and Wednesday, April 20, at the Reynolds Performance Hall.
Jerry Horne, curator for the Arkansas Band Museum, will bring his collection of rare and antique instruments to the performance hall on both days. Free hourly tours of the museum exhibits for school groups and bands can be scheduled by calling the UCA Department of Music Office at (501) 450-3163.

Tours will be from 3 p.m.-5 p.m. each afternoon. A concert will follow the tours each evening at 7:30 p.m., also at the performance hall.

The UCA symphonic and concert bands will perform on Tuesday, and the wind ensemble will perform on Wednesday. Both concerts are free to the public.

UCA will sponsor an instrument drive for “Play It Again, Arkansas” during “Save the Music Days.” Any brass, woodwind, or percussion instrument that you, or your child, no longer plays can be dropped off at the Band Museum Exhibit at Reynolds, at one of the concerts or at the UCA Band Room in Snow Fine Arts Center. These instruments will be provided to schools and students needing band instruments.
