UCA to host "Deal or No Deal" Casting Call

The University of Central Arkansas, in conjunction with KARK Channel 4 and B98.5, will host an open casting call for the hit NBC show “Deal or No Deal” at the Farris Center on the UCA campus Saturday, July 29 from 10 a.m.-1 p.m. Potential contestants will have 30 seconds to tell NBC producers why he or she should be a contestant on the show. Channel 4 will videotape each plea and send it to the show’s producers. A representative from “Deal or No Deal” will be on hand as well.

On the show, each contestant chooses a briefcase with as little as one penny or as much as one million dollars inside. As each round progresses, he or she may either keep the original briefcase or make a “deal” with the bank to accept its cash offer in exchange for whatever dollar amount is in the contestant’s new chosen case. Once contestants decide to accept or decline the bank’s offer, the decision is final.

“We’re thrilled to host this casting call for one of the year’s hottest shows,” Lu Hardin, UCA president, said. “This is a great opportunity for everyone to come to UCA and have a little fun. And who knows? One of our lucky potential contestants could become a millionaire on national television.”

Casting call participants must be at least 18 years old and must fill out an application. Applications may be downloaded at www.kark.com/contests/deal. Applications will also be available at the casting call. The doors to the Farris Center will close promptly at 1 p.m. with no exceptions. Everyone who is in the building by that time will be videotaped.

Casting calls for Deal or No Deal are being held throughout the summer. Other cities chosen to participate include Columbia, S.C., Des Moines, Iowa, Richmond, Va., and Anchorage, Alaska.
