UCA to Host Bear Facts Day for High School Seniors, Transfer Students

Bear Facts DayThe University of Central Arkansas Office of Admissions and Enrollment Services is inviting prospective students to campus Saturday, Oct. 1 for its biannual Bear Facts Day.

The massive and immersive overview is a chance for high school seniors, transfer students and their families to sample sessions on UCA’s academic programs, learn how to get involved and explore the campus.

“We try to provide a full experience at Bear Facts Day so students know who we are and, more importantly, they know whether we’re the place for them,” said Courtney Bryant, director of Admissions. “We make a commitment to see every student who attends UCA through graduation and hope Bear Facts Day is just a part of their journey.”

Much of the day allows students to create a custom itinerary from a menu of options. This flexibility gives students and their families the freedom to visit with campus services and ask any questions about UCA.

“Students have a lot of choices out there, so it’s important they take the time to get to know their potential future home before making a decision on where they will attend,” Bryant said.

In the day’s first session, students and their families will have the opportunity to meet faculty from the academic college that interests them the most. Additional sessions showcase campus resources and student organizations: everything from financial aid and transfer services to the Schedler Honors College and the University Scholars program.

Campus tours will be offered in the afternoon, including close looks at student housing.

The Bear Fair, which begins at noon, will allow students to explore support services, recognized student organizations, and departments at UCA. There will be a scholarship drawing at the Bear Fair. In order to win, individuals must be a high school senior.

Bear Facts Day will begin with check-in at 9:30 a.m., at the Reynolds Performance Hall followed by sessions with individual colleges at 10 a.m. Students should register in advance to ensure space is available, which can be done online.

For those unable to come in October, a second Bear Facts Day will take place on Friday, Dec. 9. For more information about Bear Facts Day or applying to UCA, call 501-450-3128.
