UCA Theatre will present the award-winning play, Stop Kiss, by Diana Son, on Oct. 26, 27 and Nov. 1, 2, 3 at 7:30 p.m. on Centre Stage of the Snow Fine Arts Center.
The play tells the story of two women who form an awkward friendship which suddenly, and unexpectedly, swerves in another direction. The script explores society?s views on diversity, intolerance and acceptance in a moving portrayal of friendship and love. Stop Kiss won the GLAAD Media Award for Outstanding New York Production and Ms. Son was awarded a Berilla Kerr Award for Playwriting.
Cast members include Sharon Combs of Conway, Colley Bailey of Flippin, Courtney Bennett of Little Rock, Aaron Holt of Hot Springs, Melia Matlock of North Little Rock, Josh Miller of Mena, and Karla Tyler of New Jersey.
The play is directed by Dr. Kevin Browne with set and costume design by Shauna Meador. Lighting design is by Dr. Greg Blakey with original music composed and designed by guest artist, Jason Knox. Mr. Knox is a graduate student at Purdue University and appears courtesy of the College of Fine Arts and Communication Artist-in-Residence program.
The audience is invited to a talk-back session with the actors, designers, crew, and director following the October 26 performance to discuss the production and the themes raised by the play. Charlotte Strickland, UCA?s Education Seminar Coordinator from the Office of University Training, will be present to help answer questions regarding diversity and communication.
