CONWAY — In conjunction with UCA Theatre’s April production of Spring Awakenings, the University of Central Arkansas will host workshops led by artists in residence Michael Heavner and Lisa Harper.

Spring Awakenings is scheduled for April 11-12 and 17-19.

Heavner will lead “How to Sing in a Rock Musical” on Thursday, March 7 in the Bridges/Larson Theatre of the Snow Fine Arts Center. Harper will lead “How to Dance in a Rock Musical” on Thursday, March 14, also in Bridges/Larson.

The 6:30 p.m. workshops are free and open to the public.

“Michael and Lisa are real professionals and will be wonderful models of excellence for our students,” said Dr. Kevin Browne, associate professor of theatre.  “The public events will give those who are not in the show a chance to experience the excitement and challenge of our process.”

Heavner, musical director for the Theatre Arts and Dance Department at the University or Arkansas at Little Rock, will serve as the guest musical director for Spring Awakenings.

Harper, choreography instructor at the Arkadelphia School of Dance and Henderson State University, will serve as the guest choreographer of Spring Awakenings.
