Update regarding COVID-19 from President Houston Davis to students, faculty, and staff
We are days away from the start of the fall 2020 semester and are so excited to see our returning students back on campus and to welcome our incoming freshman class! We have made many adjustments and accommodations all across campus to ensure a safe return to classes and college life this academic year. I have shared those details with you and your families in emails and on social media over the past few weeks. Today, I would like to share another key resource that collects the most important details into a single location.
We have developed our Student Guide to Returning to Campus to help you understand important changes we have made in order to make the 2020-21 academic year a successful and safe experience for you and the entire campus community. Please take the time to review that informative guide which is attached to this email as well as linked here. Additionally, continue paying attention to our COVID-19 website for regular updates and current information.
There’s one more important update I would like to share with you. As I mentioned in previous communications, we are providing a UCA-branded face covering (bammie) to each UCA student. We have received some questions regarding the level of protection the bammies offer. Please be aware that these bammies have been custom-made for us with an extra layer of interior mesh that provides additional protection. They have been certified to meet Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) guidelines to ensure that members of our campus community have a safe, effective face covering. If you need a reminder on when and where you can obtain your bammie, see page 13 of the Student Guide.
While this academic year will certainly look a little different due to COVID-19, I am excited and optimistic for the fall 2020 semester. I look forward to once again seeing our Bears on campus and working together to accomplish great things this fall.
