UCA PERCUSSION FESTIVAL SET FOR MARCH 1

CONWAY — The University of Central Arkansas Department of Music, UCA Percussion Club and Dr. Blake Tyson, associate professor of percussion, will host the Percussion Festival on Saturday, March 1, in the Snow Fine Arts Center.
The festival, which will begin at 11:30 a.m. and end no later than 7 p.m., is free and open to the public.
Opening performances will begin at noon by high school ensembles, including Hot Springs Lakeside, under the direction of Neal Moss; Farmington, under the direction of Jason Edwards; and Beggs (Okla.), under the direction of Adam Mount. Clinics will follow the high school performances, and the festival will end with a grand finale concert featuring guest clinicians and the UCA Percussion Ensemble.
Clinics are scheduled to begin at 1 p.m. Tyson will be the first clinician to present, followed by guest clinicians, including Jim Casella, an internationally recognized arranger for marching percussion. Other guest clinicians include Gwen Burgett, assistant professor of percussion at Michigan State University College of Music, and Justin Alexander, a UCA graduate on faculty at Virginia Commonwealth.
