International student enrollment at the University of Central Arkansas edged just over the 600 mark for the Fall 2009 semester setting a new University record. This semester, 601 international students from 64 countries are attending classes at UCA. This 4.5% increase over 2008 caps five years of consecutive, strong international growth. “Despite a weak world economy and increasing competition from other institutions of higher learning, UCA has been successful in attracting increasing numbers of students from many areas of the world. This can be attributed to strong academic programs, an affordable cost-of-attendance, and the excellent support services given to international students by the staff of the International office as well as from other departments all across campus,” said Jim Brosam II., Associate Vice President for International Affairs.
International students now represent five percent of the total enrollment at UCA. The top ten countries represented on campus for the 2009 semester are: People
