UCA’s Center for Community and Economic Development is partnering with the Federal Reserve Bank of St. Louis, Batesville Area Chamber of Commerce and the White River Planning and Development District to host Saving Your Small Town: Homegrown Community and Economic Development for North Central Arkansas community leaders.
The event is from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 12 at Lyon College in Batesville in the Edwards Commons.
The training will feature sessions by community and economic development professionals from across the state and is intended for elected officials, chamber board members and community leaders.
“Economically competitive rural communities are critical to Arkansas’ future success, and informed and engaged leadership will be the difference-maker at the local level. This training will provide a baseline for local leaders on what they need to know and do to support economic development efforts in their city and region and speaks to UCA’s commitment to life-long learning and public service,” said Amy Whitehead, director, UCA Center for Community and Economic Development.
The training is free of charge, and is provided through grant funding that UCA has received from the Winthrop Rockefeller Foundation. Registration is required. Contact Shelby Fiegel at sfiegel@uca.edu for additional information, or visit uca.edu/cced/saving-your-small-town.
