CONWAY — The 10th annual UCA Film Festival, featuring films made by digital filmmaking students at the University of Central Arkansas, will be held Friday, April 25, at 5:30 p.m. in the Donald W. Reynolds Performance Hall.

“The festival gives our students, and our program, some great exposure,” said Joe Dull, associate professor of Digital Filmmaking and coordinator of the undergraduate film program. “We usually have hundreds of people show up to see the films, and it’s a great chance for them to become known by the greater film community.”

The film festival is an annual event highlighting the best work of UCA students. An awards ceremony and after-party follow the festival every year.

The event is free and open to the public.

All film entries are viewed by the UCA Digital Filmmaking faculty, who choose which films will be screened.

“We’re generally looking for a combination of entertainment and artistic merit,” Dull said.

A panel of guest judges, made up of professionals in the industry, chooses the awards each year.

Dull said students can submit their films year-round. The films must be shorter than 20 minutes, made in the last year and created by a UCA student.

The final selections will be made the Monday afternoon before the festival.

“I really just enjoy the films and the students getting the chance to show them,” Dull said.
