UCA FILM FESTIVAL SET FOR MAY 3

University of Central Arkansas film students will present their short films at the 14th annual UCA Film Festival on May 3 starting at 7 p.m. in Reynolds Performance Hall.

The event is free and open to the public. Audience members can expect diversity among the filmmakers, genres and stories told.

“There is a lot of talented people here with really strong visions and personal stories,” senior Film Club Supervisor Donavon Thompson said. “They’re going to tell those stories, and it’s good for us as filmmakers to get feedback and get the experience of being able to show people what’s inside our heads.”

Each year, the film festival takes place during finals week and is followed by an awards ceremony. UCA film faculty members choose the films to be shown at the festival, and guest judges choose which contestants are awarded. The guest judges are undisclosed.

“UCA Film Festival is a great place to showcase students’ work as well as inspire other students to enter into the film festival and to help them go out and pursue their careers,” Thompson said.
