The University of Central Arkansas School of Communication will host Communication Week, a series of events that celebrates and promotes awareness of the important role communication plays in the professional and personal lives of every individual, Oct. 22-26.

The theme this year is “Communication Unites!”

All events, free and open to the public, will be on the UCA campus.

“As our theme suggests, we are looking forward to hosting events that will encourage students to think about ways to use effective communication tools as powerful bridges that bring people together,” said Dr. Carey Clark, associate professor of Writing.

On Monday, Oct. 22, David Albritton, executive director of product development and international communications with General Motors, will present “A Seat at the Table” from 5 to 6:30 p.m. in the Mirror Room of McAlister Hall.

Alumni panels are scheduled for Oct. 23 and 24. On Tuesday, Oct. 23, the panel will feature Communication and Writing graduates. Communication graduates Kate Fletcher and Frankye Jimenez will join Writing alumni Meleah Bowles and Jordan King at 1:40 p.m. in the Thompson Hall lobby.

On Wednesday, Oct. 24, Journalism and Public Relations will be featured. Journalism graduates RJ Hawk and Bobby Swofford will join public relations alumni Jennah Denney and Rich Love at 1 p.m. in the Thompson Hall lobby.

On Thursday, Oct 25, the Hilliard Speech Showcase, which highlights the best student work from Principles of Communication classes, will be at 6 p.m. in Stanley Russ Hall, room 103.

On Friday, Oct 26, Communication professors Adriian Gardner and Charles Eastman will present “Starting the Conversation…Changing the Narrative on Race and Race Relations.” The presentation will be at 11 a.m. in the Thompson Hall lobby.
