UCA COMMENCEMENT SET FOR MAY 3-4

The University of Central Arkansas will hold commencement at 7 p.m. Friday, May 3, and at 9 a.m., 1 p.m. and 4 p.m. Saturday, May 4, in the Jeff Farris Health and Physical Education Center.

The university will confer 1,072 undergraduate degrees and 203 graduate degrees during four ceremonies.

Graduate School commencement for all colleges is scheduled for 7 p.m. Friday. Undergraduate commencement for the College of Health and Behavioral Sciences is scheduled for 9 a.m. Saturday. Commencement for the College of Education, College of Fine Arts and Communication and College of Liberal Arts is scheduled for 1 p.m. Saturday. Commencement for the College of Business and the College of Natural Sciences and Mathematics will be held at 4 p.m. Saturday.

UCA President Houston Davis will address the graduates. Joshua Eddinger-Lucero, the 2018-19 president of the Student Government Association, will bring greetings from the students. Candice Barnes, 2019-20 Faculty Senate president, will address the graduates on behalf of the faculty.

UCA Alumni Association representative Tyler Bailey will address graduates during Friday’s commencement and at the 9 a.m. Saturday ceremony. Alumni Association representatives Gunnar Bartlett and Jarod Matheny will address graduates at 1 p.m. and 4 p.m., respectively, during Saturday’s ceremonies.

The university will award Distinguished Professor Emeritus designation to Dr. Mark Cooper, College of Education.

Students receiving the President’s Medallion for Outstanding Student of the University 2018-2019 are:

  • College of Fine Arts and Communication – Isabella Cilia

  • College of Liberal Arts –  Carolyn Casey

  • College of Business – Kelsey Kordsmeier Carter

  • College of Natural Sciences and Mathematics – Ashley Barto
