University of Central Arkansas President Tom Courtway, UCA Board of Trustees Member and President and CEO of Conway Area Chamber of Commerce Brad Lacy, Associate Vice President for Outreach and Community Engagement Shelley Mehl and Arkansas Coding Academy Director Mary Dunlap will announce the establishment of the Arkansas Coding Academy at 2 p.m. Tuesday, July 19 at the Board of Trustees Conference Room in Wingo Hall.
Representatives from Metova, who helped to establish the academy, will also make comments.
The Arkansas Coding Academy will provide turnkey education and training opportunities to individuals seeking new careers in information technology. UCA’s Division of Outreach and Community Engagement is the principal organizer of the academy. Several tech companies and other organizations have also partnered on the venture. Other partners include, but are not limited to, ACXIOM, Arkansas Department of Workforce Services, Conway Area Chamber of Commerce, First Orion, JB Hunt, Metova and Rock Fish.
