CONWAY — The University of Central Arkansas Department of Music will present a concert by the BearBones Trombone Choir and Natural Slides Trombone Octet in the Snow Fine Arts Center Recital Hall on Sunday, Oct. 18.

The 7:30 p.m. concert is free and open to the public.

The program for the one-hour concert will include Gavorkna Fanfare by Jack Stamp (Arr. Oscar Diaz); Landerkennung by Edvard Grieg; Reflections by Anthony Barfield; Return to the Fair (Arr. Bill Reichenbach); Elsa’s Procession to the Cathedral by Richard Wagner; Ave Maria by Sergei Rachmaninoff (Arr. Jonathon Whitaker) for BearBones and Fantasy and Double Fugue by Eric Ewazen and Funeral March by Edvard Grieg (Arr. Donald Rose) for Natural Slides.

The BearBones and Natural Slides perform at least one full concert every semester. The BearBones Trombone Choir is made up of 24 trombone majors and non-majors. It is an ensemble that is open to any individual interested in performing. In addition to concerts at UCA, the BearBones performs at community events, hosts the annual Low Brass Workshop, as well as the annual Spaghetti Dinner, and performs at different regional and national trombone festivals. Last spring, the BearBones was invited to perform at the American Trombone Workshop in Washington, D.C.; hosted by the U.S. Army Band.

The Natural Slides Trombone Octet is made up of the top six tenor trombones and top two bass trombones in the Department of Music. The Natural Slides Octet will be performing at the Big 12 Trombone Conference in the spring of 2016.

“I expect that those in the audience and the performers on stage have a great time at the concert and enjoy the music being performed,” said Justin Cook, visiting assistant professor of trombone.
