The University of Central Arkansas Board of Trustees and President Tom Courtway will host a Topping-Out Ceremony for the Conway Corporation Center for Sciences at 3:30 p.m. Friday, September 25.
The ceremony will take place at the construction site near the intersection of Bruce Street and Western Avenue.
The university broke ground on the 50,000-square-foot addition to the Lewis Science Center in May, and the Board of Trustees voted to the name the expanded section of the building the Conway Corporation Center for Sciences in recognition of a $3 million gift from Conway Corporation that was announced in December 2014.
The additional 50,000 square feet allows more classroom and laboratory space, as well as significant improvements in equipment efficiency and energy utilization with LEED certification.
Construction should be complete by January 2017.
