CONWAY — The University of Central Arkansas Public Appearances’ Nostalgia Series comes to a close with The Oak Ridge BoysNperforming on April 16 at 7:30 p.m. at the Donald W. Reynolds Performance Hall.
“These four people have been making music together for more than 30 years, and yet they keep doing new things,” said Jerry Biebesheimer, director of UCA Public Appearances. “They aren’t just resting on their past laurels.”
The Oak Ridge Boys began as The Oak Ridge Quartet in 1945, known then, as they are now, by four-part harmonies and upbeat songs. Originally a gospel band, the band eventually morphed into country superstars with the hits of “Elvira”, “Bobbie Sue”, “Dream On” and “Fancy Free”.
Theirs is one of the most distinctive and recognizable sounds in the music industry. Recipients of Grammy, Dove, CMA, and ACM awards and garnering a host of other industry and fan accolades, the band still continues with new and rich sounds, along with decades of experience, that set them apart
“Every time they step before an audience, The Oaks bring four decades of charted singles, and 50 years of tradition, to a stage show widely acknowledged as among the most exciting anywhere,” their website, www.oakridgeboys.com, states. “And each remains as enthusiastic about the process as they have ever been.”
Tickets, available at the UCA Ticket Central Box Office, are $30-$40 for adults, $27-$37 for senior citizens, $25-35 for UCA alumni, $28-$33 for UCA faculty and staff, and $10 for all students.
