The University of Central Arkansas Athletic Department is teaming up with the United Way of Central Arkansas to host Super Bear Saturday, a fun-filled day of sports and activities.
The games scheduled for Saturday, April 11 include the following:
- UCA Softball vs. Southeastern Louisiana at 11 a.m. at Farris Field
- UCA’s Purple-Gray Spring Football Game at 1 p.m. at First Security Field at Estes Stadium
- Men’s soccer vs. Ouachita Baptist at 2:30 p.m.
- UCA Baseball vs. Nicholls state at 4 p.m. at Bear Stadium.
“We are really excited to be part of this exciting day here with UCA Athletics raising public awareness for our 18 agencies,” said Maret Cahill Wicks, executive director of United Way of Central Arkansas. “Our interns with Student United Way have done a great job putting everything together, and we welcome families from the area out for a fun filled day.”
The festival will include carnival games, live music, food from Road Hog BBQ and Kona Ice among others, and much more, all located on the UCA football practice field adjacent to First Security Field at Estes Stadium. Festivities begin at 2 p.m.
The three UCA games are scheduled where there should be no overlap so fans can watch all three events in one day. There will be no admission charge at any of the games but donations will be accepted.
“This time of year is always exciting on campus. And to also have many of our sports playing at home on the Spring Game weekend is special,’ said Dr. Brad Teague, UCA director of athletics. “Our staff came up with the Super Bear Saturday concept. Coordinating all sports offerings and partnering with the United Way with a carnival atmosphere will be fun for all.”
He continued, “We encourage our fans to come and spend a great fun-filled day on the UCA campus.”
