Amber Brewer of Mena, Kaci Burrow of Rosie, and Kristen Flynn of Beebe, competed on a national level in the Innovation category of Best Practices using their project, “Innovative Verbal Communication Workshop: First Year of Employment.” Students competed against seven other regional teams, after having won the 2013 Southwest Regional earlier this year in March.

Beta Alpha Psi is an honor organization for financial information students and professionals with over 300 chapters on college and university campuses. The Theta Lambda chapter is identified as a superior chapter by the organization for its commitment to professional and service hours.

Other students attending the annual Beta Alpha Psi conference were Jacob Goodner of Mena, Alex Harbuck of Hot Springs, and Daniel Meador of Fort Smith.

During the conference, students attended sessions during the conference on professional development, ethical behavior, leadership skills, service, and professional networking. Keynote address speakers included Ralph de la Vega, president and CEO of AT&T Mobility; Clark Jones, vice president of finance at Walt Disney Parks & Resorts; and John Blumberg, national speaker and author.

The UCA Department of Accounting received contributions from BKD, LLP which allowed the students to travel to the southwest and annual conferences. The UCA Student Government Association also covered a portion of the registration fees for the conference.
