UCA Public Appearances announces that two matinees for student groups are available during the spring of 2007.
On Friday, February 2, Soweto Gospel Choir will present a 1-hour matinee, starting at 11 am. The matinee will include 45 minutes of performance followed by a question and answer session with the audience. Soweto Gospel Choir, from South Africa, consists of 32 voices plus several drummers. It is a colorful, powerful a cappella performance choir, which was recently nominated for a Grammy award in the Best World Music Album for its latest CD, Blessed. More information is available at www.sowetogospelchoir.com.On Tuesday, February 20, The 5 Browns will present a 1-hour matinee, starting at 10 am. The 5 Browns, two brothers and their three sisters, all piano performance majors at The Julliard School in New York, will be playing five Steinway grand pianos on the stage of the 1200-seat Reynolds Performance Hall. They will conduct a question and answer session with members of the audience following their performance. Their website is www.the5Browns.com. Tickets to these two Student Matinees are $5 per student. They are available by calling UCA Ticket Central at 1-866-810-0012 (toll free for the entire State) or in Conway, (501) 450-3265. Groups of tickets should be paid for by check or credit card, using one means of payment for the entire group. UCA Ticket Central accepts Visa, MasterCard, Discover, and American Express. Chaperones receive one free ticket for each group of 20 students. Bus drivers also receive a free ticket to the Matinee. Seating is reserved.
Both Soweto Gospel Choir and The 5 Browns are performing full evening concerts. Soweto Gospel Choir performs at 7:30 pm on February 1 & 2, and The 5 Browns performs February 20 at 7:30 pm.
