CONWAY — The 2016 Annual Student Competitive Art Exhibition will be on view in the University of Central Arkansas’s Baum Gallery of Fine Art from March 3-17.
The Student Competitive is a juried exhibition of UCA student artwork, sponsored by the UCA Department of Art.
“The Student Art Competitive is one of the Baum’s most popular exhibitions each year, mainly because of the high caliber of the work,” said Barclay McConnell, director of the Baum Gallery.
UCA students are encouraged to enter up to three of their own works of art. The deadline to submit artwork to the Baum Gallery is Wednesday, Feb. 24, by noon. All submissions must be properly labeled and created in the Spring, Summer or Fall of 2015 or in the Spring of 2016. Entry forms are available at the Baum.
“Every year this show makes it evident that there are many talented visual artists at UCA, and not only in the Art Department,” McConnell said.
Artworks will be selected and $1,000 in prizes awarded by the guest juror, Victoria Berry, director and chief curator of the Oklahoma State University Museum of Art.
There will be an opening reception at the Baum Gallery on Thursday, March 3, from 4-6 p.m. Selected artists will be encouraged to attend, and all awards will be announced during the reception. Entry to the exhibit is free to all UCA students.
