The University of Central Arkansas Small Business Institute Program and its Small Business Advancement National Center (SBANC) received the Showcase Award at the recent annual joint meeting between the Small Business Institute and the United State Association for Small Business and Entrepreneurship that was held in Tucson, Ariz. The Showcase Award recognizes SBI Programs and Directors for innovative development. Both UCA Programs are under the direction of Dr. Don B. Bradley III.
UCA joins universities such as Kansas State, Louisville, Cincinnati, Cal-State Fullerton and Indiana as recipients of the Showcase Award.
The SBI Program sends either individual students or student teams to help a business expand or solve problems from within, including, but not limited to computerization, marketing, human resources, financing and accounting.
The program also works with non-profits and starts-ups, according to Bradley who added the Showcase Award is the most recent of a number of innovation awards the program has received for its rural development work with small communities.
Meanwhile, SBANC provides consulting information to small businesses and entrepreneurs through its weekly newsletter and its website http://www.sbaer.uca.edu.
In addition, Dr. Bradley also received USASBE’s Family Business Leadership Award and Family Business Service Award. Bradley serves on the Boards of Directors of both SBI and USASBE.
While at the conference, Dr. Bradley presented a paper co-authored with former UCA MCA student Tchiko Ngbichi on Entrepreneurial Opportunities in West Africa.
