The University of Central Arkansas will again be running shuttle routes this fall.
The shuttle will begin with the start of school on Aug. 19 and will run from 7:15 a.m. until 5 p.m., according to Larry Lawrence, director of the UCA Physical Plant.
The shuttle system has been expanded this year to include a total of four vans. Two vans will run a North Purple shuttle route which begins at the parking lot off College Avenue and makes stops at Lewis Science, Farris Center, Estes Stadium, Snow Fine Arts, Laney Hall and the Student Center.
The South Gray shuttle route will begin at the parking lot east of the softball fields on Donaghey Avenue and will make stops at Brewer-Hegeman Conference Center, Schichtl, Baridon Hall and the HPER Center.
Each of these areas will be marked with signage, and a campus map defining the routes will be available as well, Lawrence said, adding, the shuttle routes will differ from last year due to the fact that the vans will take students, staff and faculty much closer to their desired locations.
With the help of faculty, staff and students, the shuttle can free up much needed parking space in the heart of campus and still not inconvenience anyone, Lawrence said.
UCA is making every effort to accommodate its students and to make finding a parking space a non-issue, Lawrence said. He may be contacted for more information at the Physical Plant at 450-3196.
