Preservation Hall Jazz Band

The University of Central Arkansas Public Appearances presents Preservation Hall Jazz Band’s “Creole Christmas” on Saturday, Dec. 14 at 7 p.m. at Reynolds Performance Hall.

Celebrate the holidays New Orleans-style when the world-famous Preservation Hall Jazz Band brings the sounds of “The Big Easy” to the stage. “Creole Christmas” features holiday favorites with a mix of blues, jazz, and ragtime including “Swinging in a Winter Wonderland,” “Bells Will Be Ringin’,” and more, along with some of their New Orleans classics from over 60 years of performing and traveling around the world.

The Preservation Hall Jazz Band derives its name from Preservation Hall, the vibrant music venue located in the heart of New Orleans’ French Quarter founded in 1961 by Allan and Sandra Jaffe. The hall was created to preserve the city’s rich culture of traditional jazz and give musicians a place to play. The hall quickly garnered significant media attention paving the way for the Preservation Hall Jazz Band to be created and start touring across the country igniting interest in New Orleans musical heritage.

UCA Public Appearances Executive Director Amanda Horton said, “The Preservation Hall Jazz Band represents the great history of the famous Preservation Hall that has hosted some of the most noteworthy jazz musicians. Their jazz and creole-inspired Christmas music will have the audience swaying in their seats and ready for the holiday season.”
