Dr. Judith Plaskow, professor of religious studies at Manhattan College, will give a public lecture at UCA on Friday, Feb. 17. The title of the lecture is “Religious Freedom and Gay and Lesbian Rights.”
Plaskow’s lecture will explore the variety of religious positions on homosexuality and discuss the appropriate role of religious discourse in the making of public policy.The lecture will take place at 1 p.m. in the Recital Hall of the Snow Fine Arts Center. Admission is free and open to the public.
Plaskow is a professor of religious studies at Manhattan College. She is cofounder and coeditor of the ?Journal of Feminist Studies in Religion.? Her books include ?Standing Again at Sinai: Judaism from a Feminist Perspective? and ?Weaving the Visions: New Patterns in Feminist Spirituality?.
Her appearance at UCA occurs in cooperation with Temple B’nai Israel in Little Rock. Plaskow will also speak at the Temple for Shabbat services on Friday at 5:45 p.m., and at the Temple Social Hall on Saturday. Both events are open to the public.
