Pulaski Technical College and the University of Central Arkansas created an easy path for students who began their theatre studies at Pulaski Tech to complete a bachelor’s in theatre at UCA.

The two schools announced details of the transfer agreement with a “2+2” Theatre Memorandum of Understanding signing ceremony on Tuesday, Oct. 18 at Pulaski Tech’s Center for Humanities and Arts.

“This collaboration will enable students to know upfront how their courses at PTC will count toward degree requirements at UCA,” said Dr. Steven Runge, executive vice president and provost at UCA. “As a result, students will be able to take the minimum number of courses required to graduate, saving them both time and money.”

Students who start their coursework at Pulaski Tech will understand exactly which courses to take in order to seamlessly transfer into the UCA Theatre program as a junior, with no loss of credit hours in the process. Students can then earn a Bachelor of Arts or Bachelor of Science in theatre at UCA.

PTC and UCA have collaborated on multiple transfer agreements over the past two years. With this latest signing, PTC students will have access to 2+2 checklists covering 60 separate degree programs across many disciplines at UCA.

“From a student services standpoint, the 2+2 checklists really provide road maps for our students to know exactly which courses they need for a particular degree,” said Dr. Michael DeLong, PTC executive vice president and provost. “That’s going to save them time and money and help them stay on course.”
