UCA PUBLIC APPEARANCES SEASON

TO OPEN WITH TIM GUNN SEPT. 24

CONWAY — Tim Gunn, star of Lifetime’s Project Runway and the chief creative officer at Fifth & Pacific (formerly Liz Claiborne Inc.), will open the UCA Public Appearances season with the first Distinguished Lecture Sept. 24.

The 7:30 p.m. event at the Donald W. Reynolds Performance Hall, “An Evening with Tim Gunn,” is sponsored by the Log Cabin Democrat.

“A lecture of this stature usually takes place somewhere a lot bigger and more expensive than this,” said Jerry Biebesheimer, director of UCA Public Appearances. “This is a special opportunity for people to get a feel for who [Gunn] is as a human being.”

Biebesheimer said Gunn would likely speak about his life, career and his new book, Tim Gunn’s Fashion Bible: The Fascinating History of Everything in Your Closet.

Gunn previously served as chair of the Department of Fashion Design at Parsons: The New School for Design, where he was part of the community for more than 23 years. While at Parsons, he retooled and invigorated the curriculum for the 21st century. Under Gunn’s direction, the department became one of the leading schools in the world for fashion design education.

His newest book will be on sale in the Reynolds lobby. Following the lecture, Gunn will sign books in the Brewer-Hegemen Conference Center.

Tickets, available at the UCA Ticket Central Box Office, are $15 for adults, $5 for students and children, $5 for UCA faculty and staff, and free for UCA students with a current student I.D. (limit of two tickets). For tickets, call (501) 450-3265 or toll free from anywhere in Arkansas at 1-866-810-0012 or visit www.uca.edu/reynolds.
