The UCA Faculty Senate has invited Provost Gabriel Esteban to speak to the senators and faculty during the faculty senate meeting next Thursday about the proposed new Office of Diversity and Affirmative Action.
Senators said faculty had expressed questions or concerns about the proposed new office.
Late last month, faculty senators met with groups of faculty across campus to learn about faculty concerns that the senate might address during the academic year.
A faculty representative from each academic college and the at-large group announced the concerns he or she heard from faculty.
The executive committee will assign issues to committees at an upcoming meeting.
Some of the concerns raised by faculty include:
-Heavy teaching loads,
-Fringe benefits,
-Dwindling library resources,
-Not having a sidewalk along Western Avenue,
-Equity Salary Adjustments,
-Class sizes,
-Travel budgets,
-Summer school pay,
-Spring break not coinciding with local school district,
-Need for a university daycare,
-Reciprocal tuition waiver agreements with other state universities,
-Departments outgrowing facilities,
-Lack of representation for faculty who do not belong to an academic college.
