Sam Allen, a graduate student in the Department of Physical Therapy recently presented a poster, titled ?Laser Micro-dissection of Midbrain Neurons in Rats following Spinal Cord Injury?, at the Combined Sections Meeting for Physical Therapy in San Diego CA The research was conducted as part of the B.R.I.N. summer fellowship program at U.A.M.S. with Dr. John Hole. The aim of this study was to measure the effects of the neurotrophin GDNF on the regulation of structural genes that are needed for repairs after spinal cord injury.
