Dr. Joe Horton, Department of Economics and Finance, presented a paper, “The Great Northeast Blackout of ’03” at the International Academy of Business Disciplines meeting in San Antonio on March 27.
Dr. Gary Wekkin, Department of Political Science, was elected to the Executive Council of the Southwestern Political Science Association at the association’s annual meeting in Corpus Christi, Texas, March 18-20. He also was one of four UCA political scientists (Drs. Tom McInnis, Kim Hoffman, Mark Mullenbach, and Wekkin) presenting research papers at the meeting.
Dr. William Friedman, Department of Management Information Systems, presented a paper, titled “How to Make a COBOL Course a Course in Both Organization and Logic” at the Mid-South College Computing Conference on April 2-3 in Little Rock.
The paper shows how certain techniques and pedagogical methods result in better programs. Accurate anticipation of project output and careful planning coupled with extensive use of logic transfer to almost any detailed undertaking.
