The following presentations, publications and accomplishments were submitted by UCA faculty and staff: Reesa Robinson, Financial Aid Office, was designated ?Rookie of the Year? by the Arkansas Association of Financial Aid Professionals.
This designation recognizes her as an up and coming leader in the financial aid community. Robinson has participated on the Early Awareness Committee for two years.
This designation carries with it an all-expense paid trip to the regional association conference in New Mexico in December where she will be recognized for her accomplishment. In addition, UCA will receive a $500 student scholarship in honor of Robinson?s achievement.
Dr. Mark Mullenbach, Department of Political Science, and Jose Guzzardi, a political science student, presented, “Permanent Seats and Temporary Allies: The Politics of United Nations Security Council Restructuring” on Oct. 21 at UCA at the United Nations? 60th Anniversary Conference.
Dr. Kondwani Phwandaphwanda, Hughes Residential College, and Miranda Morris, Minton Residential College, presented ?Easing the Transition to University Life: Assessing the University of Central Arkansas’ Residential College Program? on Oct. 22 in Atlanta at the 2nd Southern Regional Learning Communities Conference.
Dr. Joan Simon, Department of Psychology and Counseling, presented “Assessing acculturation and identity development in culturally diverse clients” on Oct. 12 at the 42nd Annual Conference of the Southeastern Conference of Counseling Center Personnel.
Donna Fisher Smiley, Department of Speech-Language Pathology, attended the 2005 Arkansas Speech-Language-Hearing Association Convention Oct. 19-21 in Hot Springs. This year’s theme was “Home-Grown.”
Several of UCA’s Speech-Language Pathology faculty were featured speakers.
Dr. Dee Lance presented “Instructional Techniques for Phonemic Awareness and Decoding.”
Drs. Kim McCullough and Fisher Smiley presented “Adult Neurogenic Communication Disorders: Translating Evidence into Practice.”
Yuen Chan, Department of Marketing, Management and Information Systems, has been invited to present a paper at the annual meeting of the Southern Management Association Nov. 9-12 in Charleston, S.C. The paper, co-authored with Dr. Robert R. Taylor from the University of Memphis and Dr. Michael Rubach from UCA, is titled “Attitudinal and Behavioral Outcomes of Psychological Empowerment: A Structural Equation Model Approach.”
Hao Liu, Department of Physical Therapy, had the article ?Effect of Excessive Potassium on Muscular Strength: A Case Report? accepted by the journal of Physical and Occupational Therapy in Geriatrics for publication in January.
Hao Liu and James Fletcher, Department of Physical Therapy, had the article ?Analysis of Physicians? Referrals: Is Further Diagnosis Needed?? accepted for publication in the February issue of North America Journal of Sports Physical Therapy.
